As a BWC-certified provider, you are responsible for filing claims of 1-888-OHIOCOMP’s enrolled employers and reporting the injury to us within 24 hours if the worker will be off work more than two calendar days. According to BWC policy, for a period not to exceed 60 days following the date of injury, physicians have presumptive approval to provide the following services:
- Up to 10 physical medicine visits, including osteopathic, chiropractic, physical therapy and occupational therapy;
- Diagnostic studies, including X-rays, CAT scans, MRI scans and EMG/NCV;
- Up to three soft tissue or joint injections, excluding epidural injections;
- E/M services and consultation services.

Under BWC’s presumptive authorization guidelines, you must file form C-9, Physician’s Report/Treatment Plan for Industrial Injury or Occupational Disease, prior to initiating services. All other authorization requests, except for emergency services and services that fall within BWC’s presumptive approval guidelines, must be submitted to 1-888-OHIOCOMP for authorization using form C-9.
